We get it, fire is a serious subject, and you’re going to have a ton of questions.
Here’s the ones we get asked most often:
Does it have a kite mark?
Yes — the FX range is BS Kitemarked and certified to EN3-7, the standard UK fire risk assessors and insurers recognise. Certification documents are available on request.
Do I need training to use it?
No — it’s a grab-n-go system anyone can use: point at the base of the fire and pull the lever. For workplaces, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 still requires staff to be familiar with the equipment provided, so we supply simple guidance with every business order.
Is it dangerous to humans?
No — FX fluid is 1000x below the legal limit for forever chemicals (PFAS), non-carcinogenic, and easy to clean up, making it one of the safest fire extinguishers on the market.
Will it satisfy my insurer?
EN3-7 certified, BS Kitemarked extinguishers are the recognised standard insurers expect. Because one FX unit covers multiple fire classes, many premises can simplify their extinguisher provision — but the right number and placement is determined by your fire risk assessment (BS 5306-8 guidance). Unsure? Get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
What types of fire does FX fluid put out?
Class A (wood, paper, fabric), Class B (petrol, diesel), Class F (cooking oils), electrical fires (dielectrically tested) and lithium-ion battery fires (manufacturer tested).
It is not rated for Class D combustible metal fires, which need a specialist agent.
Does it need servicing?
Like all extinguishers in commercial premises, FX units should be commissioned on installation and serviced every 12 months under BS 5306-3. We offer both — ask about servicing with your order and we’ll remind you when it’s due.
